What causes diabetes?  It is insulin and it is produced by beta cells in pancreas. You see, your body needs a certain amount of sugar to function properly, and it needs to be absorbed by your cells to give you energy – which is where the insulin comes in. The insulin assures your body cells absorb the sugar from your blood. When the amount of insulin produced in pancreas is not enough to absorb sugar in blood or more complicated its secretion stops this type of disorder in the human body is called diabetes in medical terms.

Type 1: This form is known as insulin dependent diabetes because in this form the diabetic person needs to have daily injections of insulin. Type 2: This form is known as noninsulin-dependent. As it is slow onset and because it can usually be controlled with diet and oral medication.

Food rich in fat content is necessary but in a very moderate quantity. Persons suffering from diabetes should avoid extra toppings on processed food. Chocolates and other desserts with a controlled fat size and of sugar free option can be consumed.

Fruits are rich in carbohydrates along with natural sugars, so you must be careful indulging in case of sweetened fruit juice. It is suggested to mix fruit with a protein or pre exercise. The fruits can be consumed two to three times in a day serving. There should be a list of vegetables which include are spinach, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage and cucumbers. We should have three to five servings a day.

Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, peanut butter, cheese, beans, and nuts are best source of protein. Dietitians’ suggest an average human requires about six ounces of protein per day, broken into two to three meals. An ounce can be measure as one table spoon of peanut butter or an egg weighs. Milk and other dairy products due to being high in carbohydrates, their used should be limited. Low-fat milk and unsweetened yogurt will help keep your diabetes in control. 

A vegetarian diet, with higher fiber content is better as compared to a non-veggie diet. Carbohydrates & fatty meals need to have a serious check. Exercise helps. Nature’s gifts are the best way to deal with diabetes. Proper medical consultation should be reviewed periodically.
